About Us
IBC Turbo was founded in 1985 with the original focus on the Co-Generation, Independent Power
Producers and Municipal Utility Markets. IBC has designed, supplied and constructed many projects,
mostly in the international markets. Additionally, IBC has aligned itself with Power Distribution Specialist
that design and supply pre-package electrical switchyards, protective relaying and utility interfaces for
many generation projects around the world.
IBC Turbo has been responsible for the design, supply, installation and supervision for many Gas Turbine
Generator Turnkey installations, Gas Turbine Control Retrofits, and High Voltage Switchyard Installations
for various types of General Electric and Westinghouse Equipment in the United States, Caribbean, Asia,
and South America.
Construction management begins with developing preliminary construction budgets for the project. When
the estimate construction costs are acceptable, then detailed designs and construction schedules are
developed. Of great importance to “Fast Track” projects is the procurement of equipment and long lead
material items such as the Gas Turbine Generator, Main Power Transformer, switchyard components, high
voltage cables and associated equipment, electrical control house, auxiliary transformers, fuel forwarding
pumps and fuel oil treatment equipment. Also of great importance to the project is the scheduling of
“heavy-lift” ships capable of transporting and unloading the major equipment at the port of import, as well
as over-land transportation to the site.
The construction management strategy for all projects requiring condensed construction schedules is
dictated by the time-frame allocated for construction. “Fast Track” Projects have specific objectives and
the management plan requires the utilization of project engineers, supervisory personnel and consultants
as a proactive project development team. This minimizes the risks throughout construction and identifies
potential problems before they occur. Through planning, clear communication and a comprehensive
quality control program, a tight schedule can be maintained and quality construction is insured. Of major
importance to the success of this project is the utilization of qualified local engineers.
